RESPONSIVE SERVICES MAKE A DIFFERENCE

CMCBD makes it easy to report non-emergency problems and reach the right people, right away.

To dispatch safety, cleaning or maintenance services, 7am to 7pm, 7 days a week:
Call: 415.543.5223 or email:
dispatch@central-market.org

In an effort to provide a clean, safe and vibrant environment, the CMCBD has implemented the services below for the community. Services are 100% funded by District property owners.

Clean Team

The Clean Team works to improve the appearance and cleanliness of the district every day from 7am to 7pm. CMCBD provides sidewalk sweeping, monitoring of public trash receptacle overflow and trash removal, weeding of tree basins, sidewalk cracks and landscape planters, reporting of large items for removal by the Department of Public Works, spot cleaning and graffiti abatement. Steam cleaning takes place quarterly and as needed.

Community Guide Ambassadors

Highly trained Community Guide Ambassadors walk the district, offering assistance in the areas of way-finding, pedestrian safety, and social service outreach 7 days a week, 7am to 7pm. They are easy to spot goodwill ambassadors in bright blue uniforms that ask “How can we help?” The guides serve as “eyes and ears” for the community, reporting issues affecting neighborhood safety to the appropriate City agencies and service providers. The team is in radio contact with a central dispatch office that logs all incoming calls, dispatches services and tracks completion.

Co-responder Safety Teams

CMCBD’s co-responder teams include a SFPD 10B Officer and a Community Guide Ambassador who proactively walk targeted-areas in Central Market and together respond to calls for service. By drawing upon the combined expertise of the Officer and the Community Guide Ambassador, the team is able to effectively and efficiently address pedestrian safety issues and link individuals in need with the appropriate services.

Economic Development

CMCBD’s work helps to attract and retain small businesses in the District; a list of available ground floor commercial retail spaces available in and around the District can be found here. It also spearheads the annual 2 Blocks of Art art walk along the 6th Street commercial corridor as well as other annual events and programs that enhance economic vitality.
